Making 'Work' Pay - Really?

I filed my taxes all standard and stuff, did them myself.  You know I like to get in and do them.  When I got an extra $800 back I was surprised.  I thought my tax this year was less than that?  Sure enough I checked and I hadn't even paid in as much as I got back.  With this new credit, it looks like the majority of married individuals (and singles) working part-time will actually not pay any tax at all (and most likely will get money from the government.

It seems kind of silly to me.  I mean I wouldn't mind having no tax at all for my bracket since I don't make a whole bunch, but having them actually pay me, while nice, just seems like I'm taking money from someone else.  I didn't make that money, so someone basically is paying me to not work.  Our government is messed up.

It also makes me wonder how much the government can say they control me too.  Since they gave me money for 'working' does that mean that I am a government employee now?  The implications are boundless.  Then again we are in socialist America now..
